I bought Blue Buffalo Wilderness canned food and dry food for my Bichon yesterday. I have tried several top-rated dog foods recently, but she turned her nose up at them. She even turned her nose up at Blue Buffalo regular canned and dry. However, the Wilderness canned food was an instant hit! As soon as I set it down, she gobbled it up! That has never happened! Also, when she finished that, she went right for the dry variety and ate some of that! I am so happy to have finally found a good quality food that my dog actually loves! The Blue Buffalo Wilderness product line includes nine canned dog foods.

Blue Buffalo Homestyle Recipe is a meat-based canned dog food using a notable amount of named meats as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 4.5 stars. The Blue Buffalo Longevity product line includes three canned dog foods, two claimed to meet for adult maintenance and one for growth (puppy formula).I had the same problem with my two (of three) pups – vet gave her opinion that this was a common occurrence with Blue, too much protein for a small dog. (This also happens with most poultry and venison…beef is seemingly the only thing that doesn’t give them trouble. Go figure.) But because one isn’t terribly active and has started packing on the pounds while eating Nutra Max beef, a fish formula was also recommended, and I am still combining a sprinkle of dry kibble with their wet to give enough fiber. On a whim, picked up one can of the canned homestyle whitefish (mixed with Innova Farm beef and Blue fish kibble) to see if they’d eat it, and that went down faster than any food I’ve given them in the past 3 years. Now I just need to see what effect it has on their bowels…Our dog is rejecting her can food now. It’s difficult to choose a can food that isn’t too expensive. I am trying to keep it at $2 a can. I feed her 1/3 of a can of Blue Buffalo Homestyle Recipe Chicken Dinner every morning. She won’t eat it mixed with dry (we did that for a while until she would go hungry rather than eat it).Blue Buffalo Chicken Dinner has 8.5 protein and 1.3 fiber – above it states it is much higher in these canned food dinners for dogs. Why the difference? Why is it so low usually in canned for fiber and protein? I am confused and concerned.Blue Buffalo Longevity is a meat-based canned dog food using a moderate amount of whitefish as its main source of animal protein, thus earning the brand 4 stars.
