Bio
My fascination with bodybuilding goes back to when I was around 12, when I was still living in Russia. I was looking through a health magazine with a picture of a muscular guy striking a back double biceps pose. I still vividly remember the emotion I felt when my Dad told me I could look like that if I followed the program outlined in an article in that magazine. I was an overweight kid at that time, and the seemingly impossible seemed achievable at that moment if I only put effort into it.

Fast-forward to 2005, when I was a regular gym guy, but I seemed to simply go through the motions in the gym, without a clear direction to keep making progress and without major goals in mind. By chance, I saw an advertisement for a natural bodybuilding competition (MuscleMania Universe) and decided to do that bodybuilding show, but just one for experience. Little did I know how much I would fall in love with competitive bodybuilding!

After doing several shows and getting pretty good results, I noticed a trend in natural bodybuilding competitions: guys and girls who used a particular trainer to help them prepare for shows always came in in great condition and knew exactly what they were doing the day of the show. That trainer’s name was Kurt Weidner, so in 2007 I decided to hire Kurt as my coach. That year, 2007, was one of the best years of my life-I graduated with a Masters degree and won an IFPA Natural Pro card, thanks to Kurt. I have used Kurt’s services since and, over time, we also became good friends.

In my current line of work as an independent software consultant and entrepreneur, I would like to think of myself as a professional who knows his trade. I would like for people to have confidence that I will deliver results to their expectations, and that I will manage those expectations appropriately. That is the same confidence that I have in Kurt: he is a professional who knows his trade and he will help me get the results that I am after. I just have to be willing to put in work, sometimes lots of it, but if you are a goal-driven individual, you already know that success requires sacrifice.

After this competitive season is over, I hope to look back and to be proud of my bodybuilding achievements, but I also would like to continue pursuing my goal of looking like a bodybuilder year-round and not just on the day of the contest. Thanks to Kurt’s guidance, I did well in that regard over the past two years of offseason training, but there’s always an opportunity to improve! I will certainly be consulting with Kurt on the best ways to continue improving.
